The EWB-USA Project Grants Program kicked off its fall cycle on August 31! The deadline for submitting a grant application for EWB-USA Chapters is September 28.
This Online Grant Application is only open to Engineers without Borders Chapters, but we wanted to mention it on the blog, because the organization is so interesting!
Engineers without Borders is an organization of over 12,000 members and 350 projects in over 45 developing countries. Their vision is a world which the communities they serve have the capacity to sustainably meet their basic human needs. The Program started with one project to bring clean water to a village in Belize.
It is one of many examples of a curated crowdsourcing community. Curated crowdsourcing is when a community of experts apply their knowledge and experience to accomplish impressive tasks, or look at a problem in a new light. Examples include everything from Netflix trying to improve their recommendation engine, to programs like this, that use skilled experts from one country to solve basic needs in another country.
If this sounds like something that interests you, get involved with Engineers without Borders today.
